Gyani Maiya

Kusunda is unrelated to any other known language and was nearly gone when the camera arrived. Gyani Maiya Sen-Kusunda (1937 to 2020) talks about her life and how the language faded as her people settled in villages and married outside the group. After the film, a pilot programme to teach Kusunda began in Nepal. Directed by Subhashish Panigrahi with support from the National Geographic Society.
